What To Expect When Injecting: Your First Botox Appointment

Have you been thinking about freshening up your look and getting Botox? The increasingly popular cosmetic injectable can help to shape and lift the brow, diminish fine lines and crow’s feet and improve frown lines that can occur as you age.

At DaVinci Cosmetic and Laser Clinic, all clients go through a thorough consultation with Dr. Sahiholnasab (Sahih) to ensure the best results based on their unique needs. But before you pick up the phone and book your appointment, read on to learn the basics about Botox.

  1. What is it?

Botox is a neuromodulator that is safe and effective in the reduction of wrinkles in the upper third of the face. Botox causes the muscles under your facial wrinkles to relax, resulting in noticeably smoother skin. If used in a preventative manner, Botox can prevent future fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in a younger-looking and more well-rested appearance.

Botox is a prescription product and registered trademark – other neuromodulators include Dysport, Xeomin and Neutox.

  1. How long does it take to get the treatment?

Following your consultation with Dr. Sahih, the actual procedure for Botox is quick and simple, with an appointment usually taking only 10 to 15 minutes, with no downtime afterwards. Please note, it can take up to 14 days to see final results, although you may start to see results after a few days.

Note, after your injections, please refrain from exercise for the first 24 hours, as you can sweat out the Botox, and do not lie down for four hours.

  1. How long does it last?

Generally, Botox lasts about three months, however, each patient is different and results may vary based on factors such as age, sex and metabolism.

  1. Is Botox just for the forehead?

No – Botox has many uses, including:

  • Brow lift
  • Lip flip to achieve a fuller lip without filler
  • Smoothing of chin wrinkles
  • Improving sagging in the corner of the mouth
  • Smoothing the look of vertical bands or lines in the neck
  • Facial slimming and teeth grinding (Masseter Botox)
  • Excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
  • Reducing gummy smile
  • Reducing and eliminating migraines
  • Shoulder contouring
  • Muscle spasm (Dystonia)
  • Overactive bladder

5, What are the risks?
